We're excited to introduce a new opportunity within our team and are seeking a Finance Business Partner to help drive the financial performance of our nationwide rental and transport operation, operating 16 branches from Auckland to Queenstown in the South Island.

Cross Country Rentals provides vehicle rentals and passenger transportation solutions across New Zealand. Cross Country Rentals is part of The Tranzit Group, one of New Zealand's largest and most respected NZ family-owned transport operators, providing essential public transport, tourism, charter and specialist transport services throughout the country.

As Finance Business Partner, you will have national reach and influence. Whilst being based at our national office in Palmerston North, travel will be required to drive performance and engage with key stakeholders.

The Role:

  • Partnering with divisional leaders to improve business performance
  • Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
  • Financial modelling, pricing and commercial analysis
  • Management reporting and performance analytics
  • Identifying financial risks, opportunities and performance trends
  • Supporting contract reviews, tenders and business development initiatives
  • Driving process improvement and better decision-making through data and insight
  • Supporting Business Unit Managers with development of their understanding of financial information

The Finance Business Partner will have a close day-to-day working relationship with the Managing Director. Cross Country Rentals is a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and the position is integral to supporting decision making within the operational environment.

About You:

  • A relevant accounting or commerce qualification
  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional membership (preferred)
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
  • Experience in business partnering, management accounting or commercial finance
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is considered necessary
  • Most importantly, you will be proactive, curious, relationship-focused, and passionate about helping operational teams achieve better outcomes.
